Happy Friday!

How cute is this graffiti-ed sign?! I love. Happy Friday! This week has been ridiculously slow ... but I have spent much of my work time interviewing les petites to help me out at work. Which means I should be back to blogging on a daily basis again very soon! Yay! In the meantime, this weekend will entail organic body scrubs here, cleaning my house while listening to the new Charlotte Gainsbourg album and hopefully a trip to the farmer's market for some flowers. Enjoy the sun, everyone!

When I was a petite cher, mon poppa would take me to the corner video store every Saturday to pick out a movie. At the age of 2 I choose The Wizard of Oz and never looked back. Over the next consecutive 104 Saturdays, Dorothy and Toto were my exclusive candy of choice, my little girl joie de vivre! My father kept allowing me to make my own decision on those Saturday afternoons (before having chocolate croissants and Orangina at bread and chocolate, and after daughter and pop library visits) in the hopes that I would actually make the choice to choose something, (anything) else. I don't know if it was Dorothy's ruby slippers, the sparkle of emerald city or Judy Garland's sweet Somewhere over the Rainbow, but I was hooked. To this day I still think that Wizard of Oz is a perfect and sublimely magical story.

And this past weekend I went on a magical adventure to The Garden of Oz in the Hollywood Hills. Check out the photos below!

Approximately once a year I get this nostalgic feeling for babydoll dresses, ripped leggings, doc martens and red hair dye. I immediately grab my ebay purchased {vintage} My So Called Life Box Set and make a day-weekend-week of watching every delicious episode. We all at some point have felt just like Angela Chase; we all had a best friend like Rayanne, parents that just didn't get it, and we certainly all had a swoon-worthy crush like Jordan Catelano. So today I'd like to say; My So Called Life, I love you and despite your short-lived existence, I'm happy you were created.

p.s. if for some reason you have never seen an episode of MSCL, put down everything and walk-no-RUN to your nearest movie store to rent it. it will change you.

how pretty the paper mache decorations the girls put up for c's 30's surprise birthday party look
and are still hanging in my apartment
(and probably will for the next month or so)

how delicious the gin gin mule cocktail tasted
at my new favorite fancy mid-town bar
(the tar pit)

how excited i am to finish one book and start the next
currently reading special topics of calamity physics
(and eager to pick up the elegance of the hedgehog)

how summer seems so far away from right now
and how i wish for warm lovely coat-less evenings outside
(and having lemonade and strawberry pie for dinner)

how the people of haiti are fairing
and how i wish i could jump on the next plane and go there and help
(and how i don't know why i just don't)

how good the new beach house album is
it's called teen dreams
(zebra track #1 is my favorite)

how great it is to spend a wednesday night
getting in-and-out cheeseburgers and chocolate shakes with a good friend
(and watching modern family)

how this year i must get a puppy
what kind will she be?
(i will name her scout)

how it's late and i have to get up in 6 hours
to take pilates class and go to work
(goodnight!)

my darling best friend's younger sister hopie (who is a hybrid between Amelie and Marie Antoinette) always used to ask me, " what CD are you wearing in your hair today?" when we were growing up. as you can probably guess, c.d. in hair so eloquently translates to {music we simply can't stop jamming to!}

Feather by Little Dragon

i have come to utilize this phrase daily and have decided to make it a regular visitor on LPC. so today, dear friends, i am wearing little dragon's machine dreams in mon chapeau. what record can't you put down this week - won't you share?
