I'll build a bungalow for two

Calling all Los Angelenos who like to brunch! I do believe I've found you the most lovely divine little spot. Ms. HP and I headed to the Larchmont Bungalow last Sunday for the very first time after a most excruiating pilates session (aka we were prepared to NOSH!) The restaurant decor was perfection; think industrial meets french new wave. We choose to sit out front on the street side and baby and puppy watch (which, if you've never been to larchmont village, is what it's notoriously known for). We split the decedant Red Velvet Pancakes (yes these DO exist!) and a apple sausage, egg and veggie panini. The food was delicious, the decor perfect and the company even better. I'm constantly racking my brain to think of good lazy sunday morning brunch places, so if you are as well, choose this one and enjoy!

I came home last night to the world's best message on my answering machine; my best gal B has somehow managed to snag us two front row tickets to the Jenny Lewis Haiti Benefit at the well known Los Angeles venue, Largo at the Coronet. WHAT?! I cancelled all plans immedietment and feverishly skipped to the little theater after work tonight. Largo was decorated with Christmas lights and hipster boys in vests selling homemade cookies. B and I sat back and listened to one of the most amazing music sets I have ever heard. Jenny played with many guests including Rilo Kiley bassist Jason Boesel, Becky Stark of Lavender Diamond, boyfriend Jonathan Rice, best friend Morgan Nagler of Whispertown 2000 and Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink of Azure Ray (my personal favorite). We were serenaded for over two hours and the artists took turns playing their songs, both old and new. It was a night filled with magic and hope and lots and lots of love. I feel so lucky to be part of a community that uses its artistic influence to make a difference in helping make this currently dilapidated world, a much much better place.

And that's my soapbox for today!

Oh, and this petite blogger is back. Apologies for the long respite - many lovely things coming your way!

Happy 2010!

My most *adorable friend in the universe, Marie-France (from Montreal!), sent me this little new years resolution list the other day and it's so cute I just had to share!

{An indie girl's resolutions for the new year}

- learn French
- only wear vintage dresses, throw away my jeans
- start a band with a recorder, accordion and tambourine
- become vegan
- discover at least one unknown band a month, deny liking them if they ever make it big
- go to yoga at least five days a week
- only use my bike for transportation
- be more mysterious
- ask yourself everyday, "What would Zooey Deschanel do?"
- quit my day job and just be awesome for a living

To the rest of you indie gals, what are some of your new years resolutions?

I received my very *first* blogger present today from the fabulous Brooke German! She sent me a pair of Lindsay Phillips new switch ballet flats which have blessed my little feet about 10 times already in the past week. Here are the deets:

WHAT THEY ARE: Classic ballet flats with a twist. Each flat comes with a removable flower secured by a snap. Just snap off the flower and snap on another design to revamp your flats—and your style—on a daily basis. Made from genuine Napa leather, the Liz Ballet Flat is available in brilliant bronze, shiny silver, glitzy gold, and basic black. The collection includes 12 snap options in three unique collections, providing an endless shoe wardrobe.

WHAT THEY (normally) COST: $64 for a pair of flats; $12 for each additional snap but leave a comment below by Sunday and I'll choose a lucky LPC reader on Monday morning to win a free pair in the size of your choice!

WHERE TO FIND THEM: www.SwitchFlops.com and select boutiques nationwide.
