LPC heads to NYC!

I have some exciting news! I'm heading to Brooklyn for the summer and I. AM. SO. EXCITED. I am house-swapping with a friend of a friend - my Silverlake Abode for their dog friendly (Scout's a comin'!) loft in Williamsburg! I have spent a lot of time in NYC as I hail from the east coast, but I've been debating moving there for a few years now, so this will be a really good test to see if it's all it's cracked up to be in my mind. I can't wait to enjoy a new city and if you guys have any recommendations of things to do or see, I'd love to know about them! I'll be blogging from the big apple throughout the summer so you can expect some cool new updates and posts!

** p.s. thank you to all of you for your sweet comments regarding SUGAR! yesterday, albeit tough, was a sugar free day and i can tell my body is thanking me! 6 more days to go ....

Goodbye, Suga!

Monday, June 27, 2011

I have a problem. I am seriously addicted to sugar. With a little more time on my hands lately, I realize that my days have begun to look like this: breakfast, cookie, lunch, ice cream, dinner, piece of chocolate/cupcake/donut hole. So, I'm giving it up. For one week. I know I know, only one week? But baby steps. So from today till next Monday I'm putting myself on sugar probation. Fruit only! See ya later, cupcakes, ice cream and cookies .... till we meet again.

* If you have any suggestions on how to deal with a sweet tooth, I'd love to hear them. If not, wish me luck! (I'll need it!)

A Birthday Wish

2

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Today is my favorite guy in the world's Birthday - My Dad! I am sending a million and one birthday wishes from California to him in Boston right now. My Dad is not only the coolest and smartest guy I know, but the best father a girl could ask for. He taught me everything that's important in life; how to fish, how to play chess, how to make chocolate chip mickey mouse pancakes on Sunday mornings and the importance of film and art and storytelling. I feel so lucky to have such a fantastic role model and parent. Happy Birthday Dad! I love you!

Scenes from the Weekend

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

This weekend was a bit hectic as I started producing my very first commercial (yay!), but I still managed to squeeze some fun in as well. On Friday night I met up with a bunch of friends to see Lost Moon Radio at the Hollywood Fringe Festival followed by live-band-karaoke (um, total eclipse of the heart, anyone?) On Saturday was a trip to one of my favorite local restaurants, Umami Burger, and Sunday involved relaxing, walks around the Silverlake reservoir and a trip to the newly opened Proof Bakery in Atwater Village. I hate to admit that there was not a lot of productivity this weekend, but I'm feeling good and positive about the week ahead.

Oh! And it's official ... Happy Summer everyone!

Monday Inspiration

Monday, June 20, 2011

There's nothing like a little morning inspiration board to get the week started off right! Things I'm craving recently: red tights (must pull them out from the back of my drawer - i know they are somewhere to be found!), fresh blueberries from the farmer's market (in everything; smoothies, yogurt, pies, over ice ream, you name it!), delicious summer cocktails (can you tell this is becoming a theme of mine?) and signs that allow said excessive summer drinking (with cool font to boot!)

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and Father's Day! Here's to a great and inspirational week ahead!

Midnight in Paris

5

Thursday, June 16, 2011

I caught an afternoon screening of Woody Allen's new film, Midnight in Paris, yesterday and it was a sheer delight. I lived and studied in France my junior year of college in a small city called Toulouse. I was in a French immersion program so there was no English spoken. Ever. We stayed with host families, ate baguettes and fromage by the river (yes, French people actually do that), visited famous cathedrals, took a wine and cheese tasting class and participated in french dance lessons. It was an incredible year and the film made me miss the food, the lights and the magic of Paris. If you ever have the chance to study or visit in France, promise me you'll say yes!

Music Monday (On a Tuesday!)

5

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

I'm addicted to a gal named Adele.  I loved her back in the days of Hometown Glory but I have to say that her whole latest album, 21, kicks some major butt. I've had the record on repeat for the past 3 weeks and don't see that stopping anytime soon. Check out one of my favorite songs below, Make You Feel My Love, and download her album S.T.A.T. It's perfect to listen to over a Sunday brunch at home, a cab ride through the city or even during a creative brainstorm session. Either way, you gotta have it!

* Other Favorites are: Rolling in the Deep/Rumor has it/Take it all/One and Only/Someone like you/I found a boy/Turning Tables

New Gal Website!

5

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

Have you guys heard about the new gal-pal website, HelloGiggles? I recently found out about it and am addicted! Founded by actress/musician Zooey Deschanel, producer Sophia Rossi and writer/Internet Sensation Molly Mcaleer, hellogiggles.com is the ultimate entertainment destination for smart, independent and creative women. Everything hosted on the site is lady-friendly, so you need not worry about finding the standard Boys Club content that makes many entertainment sites unappealing to so many of us. I spent hours pouring over the fun youtube videos, advice columns and recipes and think you will enjoy them too!

Summer Fruit

6

Monday, June 6, 2011

Summer means one thing in Southern California: Summer Fruit! I spend Sunday morning hunting for fresh strawberries, blueberries, peaches, raspberries and blackberries at the local farmers markets. Here are some collected summer fruit photos from the web that have me drooling! (especially that blueberry ice cream!)
