FAVORITE THINGS SERIES // ANGELA HARDISON

Monday, December 26, 2011

ms. angela hardison is one cool cat. i check her blog on a daily basis for sweet posts on design and her delicious posts on healthy raw foods (i'm a sucker for an easy green meal!) check out some of angela's favorite things below and make sure to check out her blog too!

Favorite Film? The one movie I could watch over and over is Fantastic Mr. Fox. I know that may seem a bit juvenile, but I think Wes Anderson is brilliant and I'm fascinated with stop-motion animation. The story, the dialogue, the music, the costumes & set in this movie are perfection.
Book? I love The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It's a holocaust story with a clever narrator (death) and some really beautiful writing. Of course, one of my all-time favorites would have to be To Kill a Mockingbird. And speaking of books, I have a habit of collecting old books with pretty covers.
Food of choice?  How could I ever choose? I love pretty much every fruit, vegetable sandwiches, and quinoa in most forms. But I'll also almost never say no to Indian food - I could eat tikka masala and naan for days.
Go-to Libation? Water, preferably with a squeeze of lime or some fruit for extra flavor. (I know, I'm so exciting - but water is almost the only thing I ever drink.)
Album you can't stop listening to lately? Wilco, The Whole Love
Your dream wardrobe would consist of ... Marc by Marc Jacobs, Orla Kiely, Lauren Moffatt, I could go on and on...
Favorite Band?  I have a permanent musical crush on Andrew Bird.
Blogs you check out daily? Too many! A few favorites that come to mind: Wit & Delight, A Merry Mishap, Color Collective
Dream vacation spot? Italy (still haven't been), India (I have a strange, strong desire to go there), and New York (no matter how many times I visit, it never gets old).
Favorite Person? Definitely my husband, who is always supportive and the funniest person to be around. He makes every day a party. Also, maybe the tiny little human that is currently growing in my belly :)
Smell you can't live without? Citrus. We're surrounded by citrus trees here in Arizona, so it reminds me of home. I love the smell of orange blossoms and the scent from slicing a lemon, cutting into a grapefruit, or peeling an orange.

I love french films too - don't get me started on that list...

2.Book - I recently finished reading 'A Moveable Feast' by Ernst Hemingway for the 3rd time - It reminds me of my time spent in Paris, France. I am about to start WALDEN by Henry David Thoreau - Kinfolk Magazine inspired me to read it. Their first issue launched this past week and it was filled with great quotes from the book*

Hi Guys! We're back again with The Favorite Things Series with one of my favorite bloggers! Ms.Lauren Willhite of Color Collective hails from Portland, OR and has created a website that is used as a designers' resource for color. Lauren pulls color from the hippest fashion photographs and images. She makes art seem like a science and I'm constantly in awe of how inspiring her website is! Check out her favorite things below and pop over to her blog to learn some more about her!

lauren's favorite things

food
Indian food! I could eat it every day of my life—for real.

film
The Sound of Music! A classic, and my favorite—always.

libation
Red wine. Usually Cabernets.

book
I go in spurts with reading. Usually I’m too preoccupied on my computer or watching a television series. But I do love to sit down with a good book and a cup of tea when it’s cold outside! I can’t think of a favorite, but soon I will be reading the Harry Potter series and I have a feeling that I’m totally going to geek out over those.

album
My taste in music changes all the time, but one thing that will never change is my belief that Dark Side Of The Moon (Pink Floyd) is the best album of all time.

day
A day on the beach, with nothing to do but relax.

clothes
I’ll have to go with Marc Jacobs and Chanel.

band
Way too hard! I like everything from Kanye to Taylor Swift!

blogs
I subscribe to over 500 blogs, and to pick a favorite is absolutely impossible for me! Some blogs I visit often off the top of my head are Frolic!, Lawn Party, Pattern Observer, Design for Mankind, The Jealous Curator and of course La Petite Choue!

place
Portland (where I live). It’s a beautiful city with a great sense of community. People are friendly and laid back. Summer days are the best and I fill them with lots of bike rides and berry picking.

person
My husband, Matt. My bff.

smell
Lavender. I can’t get enough of it.

Thanks so much for participating in The Favorite Things Series, Lauren!

Thursday, January 20, 2011

Hi Guys! We're back again with The Favorite Things Series with one of my favorite bloggers! Ms. Megan Steel of Megventures lives in the great state of Washington and takes the most breathtakingly  beautiful photos of the magical woods around her. She also has a great sense of style and is one of the cutest little pumpkins out there! Check out her favorite things below, along with some of her own photography, and pop over the her blog to learn some more about her!

meg's favorite things

film
Love Actually. I could watch it every day and not get sick of it(even though it's pretty much a
Christmas movie). In fact, I've seen it so many times I could probably recite the whole thing! A very close second would be Stranger Than Fiction. I'm a big fan of any movie that has to do with life, love and the pursuit of happiness—with a dash of comedy

book
Anything botanical encyclopedia related. I have a growing collection of old plant books, and those are what I read most. I'm not actually a big reader (except blogs, I read a mass amount of blogs), but the last batch of novels I enjoyed were by Christopher Moore

food
Cheese is my favorite food. Hands down. As for cuisine, I really like Greek and Mexican

libation
sparkling Cider (I'm one of those rare folk who don't drink any alcohol, it's just not my thing)

album
music is the hardest for me to choose favorites of... I'm lucky to live in a world with Pandora and an awesome sister who is very into music (she makes me the best mixes ever and I just got her to start blogging!). I like so many different albums, but I would say my most listened to would be Bon Iver's For Emma, Forever Ago

place
The woods. Preferably in the early morning fog. With a camera in hand

day
Sunday

clothes
I'm in the process of defining my style... I know I'm a fan of comfort, neutrals and unique pieces. Currently, my dream closet would look just like Need Supply Co., but my real closet consists mostly of items from thrift stores and Forever 21

band
Right now I'm loving The Local Natives, The Head and The Heart, Fleet Foxes, Ra Ra Riot and anything that includes Justin Vernon

blogs
Just a few (I read so many good ones!): ☁ (jeana sohn) // size too small // unruly things // folkloric // hannah and landon // clever nettle

My handsome fellow Jamie and my lovely sister Amanda

Rain. I'm such a Washingtonian!
