HELLO FROM SCOUT

Tuesday, September 6, 2011
i can't believe that this puppy has been mine for over a year now. remember when i got her? the first week i had her i was freakING out. i had no idea what to do with a 2-month-year-old pup. i got no sleep. i didn't do anything but potty train, stress about what food to buy, what shots she needed to get and when she had to get them. i only saw my friends at outdoor dog friendly events and i was exhausted. even with all that stress, she's still the best thing i've ever done. dog love is the best kind of love, right? p.s. in case you hadn't heard, scout will be going as little foot from the land before time for halloween this year. streets of los angeles, watch out!

Newsflash! L.A.
4
Wednesday, January 26, 2011
I've decided to start a new section of this blog entitled Newsflash! L.A.. These posts will cover cool Los Angeles discoveries, hidden gems of the city and basically anything hip and interesting I hear about that I think you will dig. I've gotten a lot of comments from readers in the past asking for me to post more about our darling city, so you guys, this one's for you!
So the first Newsflash! L.A. post has of course to do with (shocker) DOGS! L.A. is an extremely dog friendly city, so friendly in fact, that we now have our own dog ice cream sandwich food truck. That's right, I said it. A FOOD TRUCK. FOR YOUR DOG. ICE CREAM SAMMIES. Phydough, the gourmet dog cookie/ice cream truck brought to us by the the kids over at cool haus, launched their new business on January 5th and continues to grow strong. With ten flavors of cookies (including duck fat, red velvet, and the mysterious "original") and four flavors of ice cream (including peanut butter bacon and foie gras), it's entirely possible you'll want a Phydough treat for yourself.
Extra Credit: All of Phydough's cookies and dough ingredients are organic and human grade. AND they'll also happily cater your dog's "special day," from adoption day to birthdays with dog ice cream galore! Scout and I talked it over, and this weekend we'll be sampling the carob swirl/peanut butter and bacon sandwich, puppy style. She was really craving the carrot honey, but I talked her into something a bit more classic.

Artist Profile: Hollin Pulley

Thursday, January 6, 2011
Since photography is obviously a big theme on La Petite Choue this week, I couldn't help but introduce you all to one of my favorite photographers (who lucky for me, happens to be one of my favorite friends), Ms. Hollin Pulley. Hollin is a pilates instructor by day and rogue photographer by night. She is also is what I like to call a triple threat; she's from the south, she has a dog and she loves desserts equally as much as I do. Hollin even inspired me to purchase my own camera (we have the same Canon Rebel Ti2) and her photographs are simply stunning. I am also slightly biased as she is particularly talented at shooting animals (ahem, notice the many pictures of my Scout!) Stop by and say hello at her little blog here and check out some of my favorite of her photographs below!

Happy Weekend & Good Luck, Scout!

Friday, November 5, 2010
I just dropped the little pumpkin off at the vet to be *spade* this morning. I MAY or may not be a nervous wreck. I took this photo on the way to the vet. I'm pretty sure home-pup had no idea what was going on, other than the fact that she wasn't allowed to have breakfast this morning and was pretty miffed at me. Since Scout will be in full-on recovery mode this weekend, the two of us are going to curl up on the couch and watch the second season of Friday Night Lights (seriously people, this show is amazing - Tim Riggins anyone?) and attempt at making this delicious recipe. We're going to try and finish a few home-craft projects as well so I can finally take photos of my new home to share with you! What are you up to? Happy Weekend!

More Dog Lovin'

Thursday, October 28, 2010
Oh my - I think I've hit an all time high of dog obsession. In the past week I've bought Scout her first puppy bed, a new set of vintage dog bowls and now I'm craving these adorable dog portraits by the clever people over at Paste. Luckily, they don't have an Australian Shepard option, else I'd be out some serious cash! Get your dog posters here!

Anthropologie Puppy
13
Monday, August 16, 2010
Well folks, we did it! The girl-Scout and I moved into our one bedroom Silverlake log cabin this weekend and we came out with all our fingers and paws in tact! There was an incredible amount of heavy lifting as well as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros listening (Home anyone?), but my awesome Rock n' Roll movers made it a much simpler task (along with some incredible friends who deserve gold medals and cupcakes for their efforts!) I snapped this picture of the pup-lette lounging on my one and only favorite piece of furniture. She is sprawled on top of one of my anthropologie pillows looking a little too cozy if you ask me! At least she has good taste, right?

Meet Scout
37
Tuesday, August 10, 2010
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I'd like to introduce to you the newest member to my humble little family; Scout! Yes, yes, as in To Kill a Mockingbird Scout and maybe, just maybe as in Girl Scout. Scout is a 9.6 lb. Australian Shepard puppy. I've had her for 2 weeks now (hence the few posts) so potty training, long walks around the Silverlake Reservoir and trying not to spoil her with pink ice cream coned shape puppy treats have been consuming all my time! I am totally in love with this little bundle and am quite sure she will be posted about regularly on LPC in the future!
